Wingfoot Classic 2022, hosted by Atlanta Track Club Atlanta Track Club returns to Cartersville for the eighth annual Wingfoot XC Classic. This year's races continue with a two day event featuring 3K & 5K races for Youth and High School competitors. Subs will be provided for after school / dinner.

About the Event

On Friday night (9/23), we race at the Wingfoot XC Classic. A meet packet will be sent home this evening with all race entries for review. 

Here are some preliminary details:

Address:  

  • Sam Smith Park, 1155 Douthit Ferry Rd, Cartersville, GA 30120 
  • The course is roughly an hour from Marist, although please plan accordingly given what Friday Atlanta traffic can be like!

Parking:

  • $10 cash only per car at the race site. Additional $5 parking will be available offsite at Cartersville Primary School, Cartersville Elementary School, and Cartersville Middle School.

Team Lunch:

  • Subs will be provided prior to leaving Marist on Friday afternoon.
  • Upon dismissal, students should change quickly and report to the front steps of Centennial Center to pick up their food.
  • This meal is covered by team spirit fees.
  • Freshmen may eat their subs on the bus ride.
  • All 10-12th grade students should finish their sub prior to the bus ride or immediately upon arrival at the course. Please do not eat in the charter buses.

Departure Schedule:

  • All freshmen will be dismissed at the 1:40 bell. Freshman should attend all of 6th period and notify their 7th period teachers they'll be absent on Friday, 9/23.
  • All freshman will depart on minibuses with Coach McMurray & Coach Dammer at 2:15pm.
  • All 10-12th grade students will be dismissed at the 2:40pm bell after announcements.
  • All 10-12th grade students will depart on the charter buses at 3:30pm.
  • Students will have 50 minutes to change and eat prior to loading up on the bus.
  • Please don't wait until 3:20 to get dressed and to the bus.

Awards:

  • The awards ceremony will take place around 9:50-10:00pm at the conclusion of the Girls Championship Race (starts at 9:25pm).
  • All runners are asked to stay through the end of the awards ceremony.

Return to Marist:

  • All buses will depart the meet after the awards ceremony.
  • Those runners riding home with their families may do so after the awards ceremony and upon checking out with Coach Herbert.
  • We will likely return to Marist between 11:30pm-12:00am.

Race Day Attire:

  • While it will be in the low 80s when we leave Marist, the temperature will drop to the high 60s while we're there.
  • Please bring your team issued sweatpants, sweatshirt, and navy blue shirt.
  • Please be sure to pack your singlet and shorts/spandex Thursday night!
